About

My Financial Situation

I am the recipient of the Carer Payment/Pension and associated payments in regards to having two children with disabilities. I am also in Govt. Housing which affords me a very acceptable rate of rent. I have my finances so that the majority of household bills are paid automatically weekly at a set rate leaving only phone plan to be paid. I have had some trouble with obtaining a loan due to the fact that I am a recipient of the Carers Payment, NOT affordability. On my credit fle there is at least one disputed bill with telstra, this is something of a stalemate which I have refused to pay. I am unaware of any others on there, however I am paying of a old services bill with tru-energy. I also rent with Radio Rentals and have done so for 2 1/2 years never missing any payments. My rent is also in credit. Whilst the decision to buy a car is a major one, it is more like buying a house to me as it is probably the largest purchase I will make and intend to get a car that I can keep for twenty years and hopefully hold some of its value. (becoming a classic). In the last few years I have encountered some unusual situations, with my wife passing from cancer, leaving me with two boys. My car brokedown beyond repair early 2006 leaving me to take my son across to school by taxi at a cost of $15-40 per day. During this time things were quite hard just paying bills was a effort and resulted in a circle of payday loans which are very expensive(30%). I have since bought a car and relieved this burden. I have also bought a second car which I have fixed and is currently for sale. As a result of the difficulties that arose I may have service bills on my credit file, however the ones I am aware of are being paid off.
